It’s no surprise that Americans love looking good. In fact, in the United States, consumers spend $8.4 billion every single year on cosmetics alone. However, while makeup and skincare aficionados may be inundated with tips and tutorials from 20-somethings on how to contour a chiseled cheekbone or master the smoky eye, information on how to get those looks once you hit a certain age is few and far between.

However, many older celebrities such as Helen Mirren and Meryl Streep are not only ageing gracefully, but looking better than ever before. 1. Your Mascara Can Be Used as Your Eyeliner:

© eternallifestyle.com

Your eyeliner pencil is finished, your gel has turned to dust and your liquid eyeliner is dried up or maybe you are on the road and you just can’t find your eyeliner. So, if you’ve misplaced your black eyeliner and love to define the lower half of your eye, well, you can sub mascara for liner. However, you should exercise caution, since you don’t want the creamy mascara to get in your eye.

Yes, mascara is specifically formulated for use near the eye because duh. But it’s a totally different consistency than the solid liner you put on or near your waterline because it serves a different purpose and therefore has a different design. You should still proceed carefully so the mascara itself doesn’t irritate or end up in your precious, sensitive eyes.

So if you are with mascara, and then you are in luck. Push your mascara brush into the tube; bring it out, transfer the little blob that follows the brush out to any surface. Dip your fine pointed brush in it and draw a thin line on your eye lids. A thick one might come out uneven.

2. Forget The Powder:

© sixtyandme.com

When we were younger, we went for powder because we were trying to control the oil on our faces and prevent shine. The truth is in every day regular settings, powder does more harm than good in the long run. It can be aging and powder often settles into fine lines and wrinkles after being on the face for a while. In the end, it draws attention to the flaws we want hidden.

Using loose powder for the face is a fairly common practice amongst women. While some do prefer to use talcum powder on their faces, tinted powder works as a form of make-up instead of using a foundation. While this is not a good practice as it does not really conceal any flaws on your face, for many women it is a way of making their face look fresh. This practice does have its ill effects. Some of them are:

Can lead to dry skin: According to Dr Shefali Trasi-Nerurkar, leading dermatologist, loose face powder, especially those containing cornstarch or rice starch, is extremely dry and applying it on your face can make your skin even more dry. What’s more the powder is extremely fine which causes it to absorb all the natural oils from your face, making it difficult for your skin to breathe. This process also alters the way your skin functions and repairs itself, making it bad for you in the long run as the lack of sebum (the oily substance that your skin makes) prevents the production of collagen (a compound that helps maintain the elasticity of your skin).

Can cause acne and infections: Since the powder is extremely fine, it often settles in the pores of your skin, which leads to clogged pores and acne. Apart from this if you apply the powder on your face in the middle of the day (on oily patches or when you are sweating) without washing your face, it tends to lock in all the oil and dirt — leading to infections and pimples. Apart from this Dr Shefali says,’Using powders made from corn or rice is not the best option if you’re prone to breakouts. The bacteria that cause acne thrive on food ingredients like this.’

Can cause long-term lung damage: Another serious ill effect of this powder is that when you apply it, due to its nature, some of it is inhaled into your lungs. This then settles along your airways and can lead to immediate reactions like bronchitis and asthma or long term lung damage. That being said, lung damage is a long term ill effect of using loose powder. It takes a number of years to see any changes and may not be the same for all using the product.

May lead to allergies: Dr Shefali says, ‘In some cases loose face powder can cause allergies due to the fragrances and preservatives they contain.’ This is because while some may contain substances that can cause allergic reactions to your skin, some may contain certain chemicals that can do harm to your skin in the long term.

Setting spray is a better option. There are formulas to prevent shine and make the foundation last. Replace powder brushes and bronzers with cream formulas. They do not highlight wrinkles.

3. Contour Your Lips:

© beautylicieuse.com

“As you get older, the lips can become asymmetrical and it can be aging,” says Linter. You can balance out the mouth by using a lip pencil in a your-lips-but-better shade, but the formula must have the right amount of slip. “You want it to be so soft that the minute it touches the skin, it glides on,” she explains, adding Velvet Matte Lip Pencils are the best in this regard. To create symmetry, Linter recommends drawing on four separate strokes, always starting from each of the four outer corners and drawing towards the cupid’s bow or to the center of the bottom lips. “That way your lip is going to be more balanced,” she says. Apply lipstick in the same fashion, then use a lip brush to slightly diffuse the edges for a softer look. After painting on a matte lip, Linter will sometimes add a gloss on top to add shine and definition, but never one that’s too heavy or sticky. This part of the process is up to the wearer, Linter emphasizes; “the finish is purely taste.”

Lips naturally become thinner as we get older so you can increase the size by contouring your lips. Marilyn Monroe used this tip.

To increase the size by contouring your lips, you need a liner and a lipstick with same shades together with a concealer and a lipstick few shades lighter than the first. Line your lips just a little bit above your lip line, draw lines going towards the center of your mouth. Use the darker shade of lipstick to apply to the outer half of your lips, fill in the center with the lighter shade. Use a brush to blend the two shades. Use the concealer to define the edge and clean up any stray lipstick

4. Choose Yellow Tones for Your Foundation:

© easyparapharmacie.com

There is nothing worse at any age than having a foundation that does not match your face and neck. Opting for a foundation that is too light will make skin lifeless and be very obvious, whilst a darker shade will leave your features looking heavy and dull. Whether you are going too light or too dark, you are guaranteed to be adding years onto your face. To find the perfect foundation shade for you, firstly take a look at the veins on your wrist. If they are noticeably blue then you require a more cool/ pink toned foundation. If your veins are greener, then you require a more yellow based/warmer toned foundation. Nowadays as well as having an array of foundation shades, most make-up brands offer a set of cool and warm toned products which makes choosing the correct foundation much easier. If you are really unsure on what shade to purchase then brands such as Dior and No.7 offer a skin scanning service which perfectly picks up on which shade is best for you.

Women over 40 look better, brighter and younger on foundations with yellow tones. The yellow tone helps to reduce any grayish tone that is taking over your complexion. 5. Use Index Cards When Applying Mascara:

© visihow.com

This tip actually works for women of all ages. While you’re applying mascara, it’s easy to smudge some on your eyelids, which is a pain to clean it up. If you want to avoid streaking or smudged mascara, use an index card that is cut to basically match the shape of your eye. Line it up and allow your lashes to hang over the card so that any applied mascara that goes too far goes on the index card and not on your face.

So you can use any old business card for this. Place the card above your eye and, while looking in a mirror, mark where your eye starts and ends. Also draw the general curve of your eye from one end to the other. Grab a pair of scissors and cut this part. That’s all you need to do.

Put this new business card shield to your eye and lift up. It will protect your eyelids from accidentally being smudged while applying mascara—and it can be used on both eyes as well as above and below. Phan notes that it also makes it easy to grab every single eyelash.

6. Multi-Mask:

© PHOTOGRAPHED BY ERIN YAMAGATA

Multi-masking is when you apply multiple face masks, to different parts of your face at once, in order to treat different skin concerns.

For example, you might want to use one type of mask to treat your T-zone, another for your cheeks, and yet another around your eye area. That’s because the skin on different areas of your face is obviously not all the same. The forehead, nose and chin have the highest concentration of oil glands, while the outer corners of the eyes have the least (and are in fact the thinnest areas of skin on the body).

So applying just one mask all over doesn’t really cut it. Think of multi-masking as a customized facial. It’s the exact same concept that many estheticians have been using for years in their professional skin treatments—only you can do it yourself, anytime, at home!

Multi-masking is an ideal treatment for combination skin. Most of us, at some point in our lives, will experience this skin type, whether it is normal-to-oily or normal-to-dry.

Depending on the time of year and even the time of month, skin can have areas of increased oil production, acne or tightness/dryness. Heck, some of us might even be #blessed with all those issues at once!

Multi-masking is also suitable for normal skin that might just need a boost. There are masks out there that will help skin look brighter and more luminous, and also work on pigmentation for a more even tone.

The one skin type that must be cautious about multi-masking is sensitive. Any time you are using multiple products on your face, there is a greater chance of causing irritation.

If you have sensitive skin and want to try multi-masking, make sure to choose gentle products and test each mask on its own first. 7. Use Your Lip Balm as Brow Gel:

© onegoodthingbyjillee.com

Most lip balms have ingredients—such as petroleum jelly, beeswax, cocoa butter, coconut oil, shea butter or lanolin—designed to lock in moisture and form a protective barrier, which makes them a great pinch-hitter for a lip moisturizer, according to lip balm expert Joahne Carter, vice president of Marketing for eos. Smear lip balm on body parts that get especially rough in the winter, like elbows, knees, heels, and knuckles. For this hack as well, choose a basic balm without tints, shimmer, sparkles or fragrances.

So obviously lip balms are supposed to be used on your mouth, but if that’s the only place you’re using them, you’re seriously missing out. The soothing formula and tacky consistency of the beauty basic are actually really handy for a load of other ailments. So let’s start making that lip treatment work a little harder, shall we? Here’s what it can do:

You can use it to control unruly hair in your eye brow. You can use a clean brush or finger to dab it on. Lip balm contains vitamin E and it can help your brows grow.

8. Do a Lighting Test Before Leaving The House with Your Make Up:

© spectrum-brand.com

It’s the same case every time: You look a certain way in your bathroom mirror and then completely different everywhere else. But the problem isn’t your makeup skills; it’s your lighting, which, when done wrong, seriously affects your makeup routine. Fluorescents can make us put too much makeup on, and pink-tinted lights can make us miss spots. Our makeup studios (aka bathrooms) deserve better illumination, and so do our faces.

So we talked to some makeup artists and did a little research of our own to figure out how to trick out your bathroom lighting. Fortunately, with just a few tweaks and products, you can improve your bathroom light situation to be much more flattering. Keep scrolling to find out how to achieve the best lighting for applying makeup.

Reduce the chances of going through this shock by getting bathroom lighting approval for your make up. Overhead lighting will always look the worst, use a hand held mirror to check your work outside and if it’s dark outside, use a flashlight. You can also buy lighted make up mirror for this purpose. Avoid magnifying mirror.

9. Select a Blurring Product:

Blur powder is designed to float over pores, fine lines and scars – offering an even finish that diffuses light. Regardless of the type of lighting you’re under (from horrible fluorescents to beaming strobes), skin will have a soft-focus look when you use blurring powder.

When applied alone, blur powder allows your natural skin tone to show through, while distracting from flaws. When used over foundation, pores practically disappear, and skin has a uniform natural looking finish. Most blur powders are very light weight and transparent – so they provide a natural look without adding excessive amounts of color or texture. Now let’s take a look at the different types of blur powder.

So if you are trying to reduce the aging process, go for primers that promise to blur. This will blur your imperfections just the same way a photo editor does. There are blurring products for the eyes, body and lip line. Blurring products also hide large pores and acne scars as well as conceal wrinkles. Avoid primers that use too much sparkle. You need to glow not look glittery. Blur powders should be every woman’s best friend – because they’re like an Instagram photo filter you can wear in real life. They get to work filtering out harsh light, while providing an amazingly even skin tone.

10. Use a Bobby Pin to Apply Eyelash Glue:

Ah, the good ol’ trusty bobby pin. They’re staple items for everyone from beauty beginners to pros, and for good reason. The thin pins are incredibly versatile, insanely inexpensive, and get the job done — simple as that. But they can do more than just secure that complex updo, bobby pins are an essential tool when it comes to beauty hacks.

Too much glue on your fake lashes can ruin your eye make-up and make your eye look funny. To get the right amount, use the rounded end of a bobby pin to rub in the glue. When the tip is covered, rub it along the edge of the lashes. Use a pair of tweezers to fix the lashes on your eye lid.

11. Pick the Right Spots to Apply Your Perfume:

Wearing fragrance is easy—a little spritz, and you’re done. But wearing fragrance well requires a little more skill and finesse. For example: Did you know that correct placement depends entirely on both the environment in which it’s worn and the outfit for which it accessorizes? And that tendency you have toward dressing your wrists and then rubbing them together? “Very bad,” says award-winning French-Armenian perfumer Francis Kurkdjian, the nose behind such sophisticated olfactive hits as Christian Dior Eau Noire, Carven Le Parfum, and those from his own eponymous line out of Paris. And, sure, while a bottle of Chanel No. 5 may look like the perfect prop for any chic bathroom vanity, the daily stream of steam from the shower may be curbing its freshness (and, in turn, yours). Fortunately, a few simple tweaks can set you back on the right olfactory course.

If you are wearing a body spray, fine but if you are using those quality eau du parfum, spraying it into the air and walking through it has no effect. Perfumes have certain points they should be applied to. Dab your perfume behind your ears, knees and inside your elbows. For those with a subtle scent, put one dab in your navel and spray down your back. For your hair, spray the perfume on your brush and comb and use it to run through your hair.

12. Use a Toothbrush to Add Volume and Texture to Your Hair Style:

Braids are great for any age but because of how thin and limp it looks, most people avoid it. Does your hair have an annoying tendency to fall flat no matter how much product you put in it? Oh, I feel your pain! Over the years, I’ve dealt with my fair share of limp locks, falling curls and bangs that were glued to my forehead.

So some gorgeous ladies have heard our whingeing and come up with a fuss-free and super-cheap trick for giving your roots a boost using – wait for it – a toothbrush!

to make them come out beautiful you need to use techniques. To make the braids look voluminous, use a toothbrush to gently brush the side of each link along the grain. If you want the braid to be wider, pull the sides outwards gently. It adds more volume to the braids and gives you this bohemian look.

13. Use a Silicon Blender:

© Mollycosmesticsshop.com

“Your makeup looks nice today!” my friend Jenny told me. I didn’t wear anything different from my day-to-day look: same foundation, same liquid eyeliner, same nude lip color. I did, however, swap out my foam sponge for a silicone one.

Silicone sponges are increasingly becoming popular. The sponge is smooth, clear and doesn’t absorb make up. The fact that it doesn’t soak up make up makes it easier to clean. This also helps in saving you money by preventing waste.

14. Grab Your Contour Tool From the Kitchen:

Are you having trouble perfecting your contouring skills? Do your contour lines resemble dirt on your face rather than chiseled cheekbones? Theres no need to go out invest in expensive new makeup brushes. You can achieve the perfect contour with the help of a metal spoon and standard clear tape. Yes, you read that correctly.

There are numerous beauty tools out there from spoolies to sponges and brushes galore. But, what happens when you’re in a rush and your essentials are lost in the depths of your makeup drawer — possibly never to be seen again? You go into your kitchen and grab this unexpected utensil — a spoon. Spoons aren’t just for food anymore! Here are the tricks on how to officially integrate one into your beauty routine.

Grab a spoon and get ready to contour like a pro. Though there have been videos showing professionals using a chef’s knife to contour, using a spoon is still the best. Take a spoon and hold it at an angle pointing slightly downward so that the head of the spoon cups your cheek. Then apply bronzer or contour below the spoon. Keep blending the product until it has been absorbed. Remove the spoon and blend out any remnant. Your contouring is done.

15. Apply More SPF to Prevent Quick Aging:

© allure.com

What does SPF mean? SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. The number tells you how long the sun’s UVB rays would take to redden your skin if you apply the sunscreen exactly as directed compared with the amount of time without sunscreen. So, if you use an SPF 30 product properly, it would take you 30 times longer to burn than if you used no sunscreen.

Skin Aging Prevention. Surprisingly, little research on whether sunscreen really prevents skin aging existed prior to 2013—proving, at least, that sunscreen use slows or prevents skin aging (except in hairless mice).

To assess whether sunscreen can indeed prevent wrinkles in humans, Australian researchers conducted a randomized controlled trial using data from The Nambour Skin Cancer Prevention Trial. Published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, the study compared 903 adult subjects divided into four groups:

  • Those instructed to apply broad-spectrum sunscreen to their head, neck, arms, and hands each morning (and again after sweating or bathing)
  • Those who could apply the same sunscreen whenever they wished
  • Subjects receiving a beta-carotene supplement each day
  • Those who were given a placebo supplement

After four and a half years, the researchers analyzed latex impressions taken from the backs of the subjects’ hands. After correcting for factors like amount of sun exposure and smoking (which can also prematurely age skin), they found that those adults who used the broad-spectrum sunscreen daily showed “no detectable increase” in skin aging.

What’s more, skin aging—such as coarser skin and more wrinkling—during the study period was found to be 24 percent less among subjects in the daily sunscreen group when compared with subjects using sunscreen products only on a discretionary basis. Supplementation with beta-carotene had no overall effect on skin aging.

So you need to get serious about applying sunscreen. The haphazard application of sunscreen in the morning does nothing to protect your skin. You need to make painstaking and targeted efforts when applying SPF. Look for a good product with higher SPF for your lip, eye and neck. It will help reduce fine lines around these parts.

16. Prevent Your Nail Polish from Chipping Quickly by Using Nail Polish Remover:

© zevanails.com

Ever notice how nail technicians put polish remover on your nails before painting them, even if you didn’t have polish on them in the first place? That’s because your nails have natural oils (usually transferred from your finger tips), which can prevent polish from adhering correctly. A quick fix? Follow suit and swipe your nails with polish remover before breaking out your base coat. Then wash your hands with soap and water to get rid of any remaining film or oil, says Butter London global color ambassador Katie Jane Hughes.

The natural oil on your nails are responsible for the chipping and peeling of nail polish. To prevent this, clean your nail with nail polish remover before applying your first coating it helps to strip away the oil on the nails. Paint the tip of your nails horizontally before going vertically to prevent tip wear.

17. Rub Eye Shadow on Your Scalp:

© KATHLEEN KAMPHAUSEN / cosmopolitan.com

There are endless products you can buy to help add volume to your hair, from dry shampoo to old-school mousse.
Still, the ultimate battle is finding a way to make your hair look full and voluptuous.
That’s why we were so intrigued when we heard girls were swearing by eyeshadow to make their hair look thicker.
If you have thin hair, you know you’ll try just about anything. So, why not start with something you already own in bulk?

For those with a thinning hairline, you can use your eye shadow to hide this. Use your eye shadow brush to tap a bit of eye shadow on areas that seem sparse. Clean up any stray eye shadow powder and use a hair spray to finish it up. Remember that you have to use an eye shadow that is a decent match with the color of your hair. It works best for those with dark colored hair.

18. Go Lighter:

© esteticamagazine.co.uk

Eyebrow trends don’t always look good on everyone, and many of us have the middle-school class photos to prove it, amirite? Luckily, this year’s brow trends are more about color and contrast than changing the shape, which means we can all put down the tweezers.

The light hair/dark brow look, as seen on poster child Cara Delevingne, is an easy trend to assess. For blonds born with this combo naturally, you’re all set. For blonds with light brows, you can quickly achieve a contrasting brow with a powder or pencil. For brunettes, it’s a moot point. But you can do the reverse and try eyebrows that are lighter than your hair, as many celebs do.

For those who are over 40, after a while using dark colors on your eyes begin to make you look tired. Consider going for lighter liners and brow pencils a shade lighter, blondes or those with silver hair can use colors one shade darker than your hair. For your liners, you can choose a shade of brown. The softer color will make your eyes appear more awake and more open.

19. Hide a Grown Out Manicure With Glitter Accents:

© @charlottereisa / Via pinterest.com

So your manicure lasted – you’re one of the lucky ones. But what if it lasted so long that your nails have grown out noticeably? This leaves a blank crescent. Here’s a little trick to keep those nails looking great!

There’s a nail trend that just happens to be perfect for this problem. Use a glitter polish to hide the bare base of your grown-out mani. Simply take a glitter polish and place the brush at the base of your nail, gently swiping upward 1/4th to 1/3rd of the way. You want most of the glitter to be concentrated at the bottom. Don’t overload the brush with polish, or it won’t dry properly and you’ll have too much sliding around.

20. Quickly Remove Eye Bags:

Do you feel old and tired because of your eyes? It is really hard to feel fresh and alert when your eyes are tired and droopy, because of those annoying bags under them. They are a sign of stress and fatigue.

Eye bags and general puffiness are not only likely to make you look older, but they give that uncomplimentary “worn out” look, too. Avoid this issue by applying this totally handy and effective tips to get rid of under eye bags and dark circles.

  • Go potato. Slice a raw potato (after refrigerating for a couple of minutes) into two and circle the closed eyes gently with those halves. Place it on your eyes so that it also covers the puffed ares under your eyes and leave it like that for 15-20 minutes. You’ll notice a tremendous change in those bags as they’ll be diminished in size.
  • Milky way. If you have extremely puffed up eyes this is the regular regime that you will have to follow. Dip cotton pads in chilled milk and place on your eyelids and relax for 20-30 minutes. This well help your eyes in water retention and it would also cool them off .
  • Oily help. Take chilled water in a bowl and add a few drops of vitamin E oil to it, now mix the two well. Dip cotton pads in this mixture and place on the eyes for 20 minutes, this well help in reducing the swelling around the eyes.
  • Cucumber relief. Cucumbers are a fantastic natural remedy to get rid of under eye puffiness. Take 2 slices of fresh refrigerated cucumber and place it on your eyes for 25 minutes. Relax with the cool soothing slices over your eyes and slip into a short nap, it will help refresh your mind as well as your eyes, and the anti-inflammatory properties of the cool cucumber will naturally help reduce puffy tissues.
  • Chilled tea bags. If you are in a hurry and do not want to go with droopy eyes then teabags are the way to go. Moisten two tea bags in cold water and refrigerate them for a while. Then place them over your eyes for 25-30 minutes. Lie back and relax with the cool teabags over your eyes. Finish by washing your eyes and face with cold water, and dry your skin thoroughly. You would feel relaxed and rejuvenated.
  • Of spoons and iced water. The puffiness of the eyes can be reduced with the help of a glass of ice water and four stainless steel spoons. Chill the spoons in the water and then place one over each eye. Keep switching the spoons while letting the other one chill in the glass of water. Keep switching until you see improvement.
  • Egg white. Stiffly beat a few egg whites and apply it around your eyes with a brush. It will result in making the area around and under the eye feel tighter and look less puffy. Leave it on for 20 minutes and then rinse your face in cold water.
  • Green tea bag. Settle down for 10-15 minutes with a chilled, steeped chamomile or green tea bag over each eye and then relax. The natural properties of these herbal teas will help bring puffy eyes back to their original size.
  • Hydrate your body. Drink as much water as possible. Yes, it seems counter-intuitive when you are retaining water, but hydrating reduces puffiness. So drink a glass of water whenever you notice your eyes getting a little droopy.

21. Ditch The Matte Looks:

© @HELEN TORSGÅRDEN / Via youtube.com

Honestly, no one looks good with matte makeup. Matte makeup is made to sit and cling to your skin. This feature only enhances wrinkles as it settles into the fine lines and emphasizes all the signs of age you’re trying to hide. Ditch the matte makeup and opt for a dewy finish foundation, such as Maybelline Fit Me! Dewy and Smooth. It hydrates, offers good coverage and evens skin tone. It also includes SPF 18 so you keep your skin safe from harmful UV rays.

While overloading on shine can draw too much attention to parts of your face bearing fine lines and wrinkles, that doesn’t mean a matte look is a better choice. So, what’s the solution? “Instead of shimmer, opt for sheen,” recommends Tailor. That means prioritizing a natural glow, rather than loading up on light-reflecting products, or, worse yet, glitter.

22. Tricks to Use to Make Your Make Up Last:

© @Howcast / Via youtube.com

Beauty products are a little like our best friends—they’re fun and always there when we need a little pick-me-up. That’s why we love em so much. Since some products come with pretty hefty price tags, we rounded up some fab tips on how to get the most out of your favorite makeup products—straight from several genius beauty bloggers we know:

Breathe new life into old mascara wands. Put old mascara wands in the dishwasher and use them to groom your brows or mist them with hairspray to gently groom away fuzzies at the hairline.

Reinvent your almost-finished bronzer. For bronzer that’s almost given its all—or isn’t quite the right shade to use on the face. Mix the remnants with a moisturizer to create a pretty, shimmery lotion and apply like a highlighter to arms and décolletage.

Scoop out every smidge of your favorite lipstick. Even if you’re down to the bottom of the tube, chances are you can still get a few more wears out of your favorite lipstick, here’s how: “Using a Q-tip helps you get every last bit out of your lipstick tube or gloss pot—and it’s more sanitary that using germy fingers.

Pick up the pieces…of blush, that is. Drop your purse and shatter one of your favorite products? Worry not, ladies: If a shadow or pressed powder breaks…you can add a few drops of rubbing alcohol and press the pieces back together. The powder will reset in the product’s metal pan.

Use hair conditioner to get silky-smooth legs. If a hair conditioner is doing a “meh” job on your hair, don’t toss it just yet. If You ever have a hair conditioner that isn’t doing the job, Just use it as a shaving cream.

Invest in a use-it-all-up beauty tool. Take a traditional paint tube wringer from any arts and crafts store to a pliable beauty product (like a L’Occitane hand cream tube or even a regular toothpaste) to squeeze every last drop out.

Rescue and remix your favorite sparkly shadows. Soft, sparkly eyeshadows sometimes crumble in your makeup bag from all the back and forth to work, but You just transfer them into a small plastic jar so that you can still use them.

Whip up new makeup from old lipstick. Turn that last bit of lipstick into a cream blush! Just smile, dab a small bit onto the balls of your cheekbones and blend upward toward the temples.

Revive a hardened-up nail polish. When it comes to rescuing your favorite shade of hardened-up or gloppy-feeling nail lacquer. Add a couple drops of nail polish thinner to restore its consistency.

Make the most of your pump-dispensed products. When your color or skin care products that dispense from a pump are empty, You don’t call it the end. Use the stem from the pump to scrape the bottles and apply it to your hand. You’ll be surprised how you can extend the life another week, or even two if it’s foundation.

Prolong the life of your razors. After you shower, shake your razor dry and soak it in baby oil. Since the oil prevents the dulling minerals in your water from hanging out on the blade and also keeps the metal from oxidizing, it’ll help keep the blade sharper longer!

Make the most of fancy body oils by mixing them with water. To prevent running through expensive body oils, Empty a quarter-size amount into a pretty spray bottle, add water and leave it in the shower so you can shake, spray and towel-dry easily. Your skin glistens and feels just as smooth.

Extend the life of your overused makeup brush. When your makeup brush starts losing its bristles, take a pair of pliers to the metal part to get them secure and useful again.

Don’t let the heat beat your eye pencil. During the summer, keep your eyeliners in the fridge. It keeps them from getting too soft, so you won’t waste product through oversharpening.

And finally cut tubes of your make up in half when you feel it’s empty and scoop out the remnants into plastic container to be used later. Use a coin to scoop out the powder remaining at the bottom of the container.
