Okay, I had 6 boxes of Rice Chex sitting on top of my fridge. What’s a girl to do? Make a lot of muddy buddies, right? Yes. So me and my fabulous new roommate made 4 different types of muddy buddies/ puppy chow this weekend. But I figure, the Super Bowl is coming up and everyone needs some sugary snacks next to the chips and dip. And let’s face it, cupcakes just aren’t very manly. You can also check out my other puppy chow recipe that is just as good! Or there’s always the Oreo cupcake recipe if puppy chow isn’t really your thing.

I’m not a coffee drinker, but two things about it always make me crack a smile.
The smell–I love it. Maybe it’s because I’m a Northwest girl and we have a Starbucks on every corner or maybe it just brings back cozy memories. But either way, I always linger when I pass by the coffee in the grocery store and I read all the snazzy flavors to myself in my head.
And the second thing? You’ve Got Mail. Who’s with me?
Mr. Joe Fox: “The whole purpose of places like Starbucks is for people with no decision-making ability whatsoever to make six decisions just to buy one cup of coffee. Short, tall, light, dark, caf, decaf, low-fat, non-fat, etc. So people who don’t know what the hell they’re doing or who on earth they are can, for only $2.95, get not just a cup of coffee but an absolutely defining sense of self: Tall. Decaf. Cappuccino.”
It’s my favorite movie and I can’t help but to read that quote in Tom Hank’s voice every time. It’s just too good!

The school lunch.
Bag or box? Fritos or Doritos? Juice or water? Cookies or brownie? Apple or nectarine?
It’s war out there on the playground. You never know what will survive and what will sabotage the whole mission. You have to pick what will travel best over what actually tastes best. Yes, you will always want to pick the soft delicious peach. But when it contaminates your sandwich, soaks through your lunch bag, into your back pack and onto your homework and you become “that kid” at lunch with the juicy and wilted pager bag, it’s all over. You should have picked the rock hard red apple.
Putting a cupcake in the lunch box is probably not the smartest idea. I would stick with a slice of angel food cake or a bag of this sweet stuff.

My first day at a new high school. I hopped out of my mother’s car ready to start the adventure of being “the new girl.” I was awkward and shy with my frizzy hair but I was hoping to fit in all the same. I had my books in one hand, lunch in the other and I was wearing a purple top with a fun, full skirt.
Bad news.
Not quite the impression I was hoping to make my first day at a new school.

Halloween is the start of the “holiday weight.” Trick of Treat? It tricks us with the treats! Don’t blame food bloggers or binge eating on Thanksgiving because I post desserts all year long and you want to talk about binge eating? What do you do during the Super Bowl for 5 hours?
But don’t worry, I found the culprit. I found what’s to blame for the extra pounds.
Candy Corn.
Does anyone actually like it? No. But do we all buy it and eat it? Yes. Because it’s tradition! Halloween just gets our stomachs full of gross, store-bought candy so that when the good food comes along in November and December we can’t help but to eat it! Our stomachs deserve the good food after stuffing it full of all the Halloween Candy.
Does this recipe look familiar? Okay, you caught me. Halloween Puppy Chow was my first puppy chow recipe a year ago! But it was so popular I thought I would do it again, but this time make it so much easier! To get the two colors last year, I made two batches, one with white chocolate and one with regular chocolate. But this year, just make one big batch and toss them in different things–powdered sugar and brownie mix. That way, you only have to clean ONE bowl.
